EV Charging Infrastructure for Temples

This article will help our readers to understand everything about EV Charging Infrastructure for Temples. India is a land of temples. We have the most diversified culture in the whole world. We have the highest number of religions being followed and practiced in this world. Temples, pilgrimage visits, religious places, and all the activities associated with religion contribute to a major part of the national GDP.

With the changing time, a lot of development and transition has taken place in this segment. Traveling and transportation related to religious activities contribute to a lot of pollution and emission. In recent time, a lot of changes has taken place with the entry of electric vehicles into the Indian market.

The Present Condition

At present, we have the highest number of tourists and pilgrims visiting various religious places. For all these activities till now, conventional combustion engine vehicles were being used. This means a lot of pollution and fuel being used. The air quality index of major Indian cities is degrading day by day. The oil prices are going up on a daily basis. Traveling to tourist places and that too different temples are becoming a costly affair for common Indian people. People have come up with the best solution which is electric vehicles.

EV Charging Infrastructure for Temples

In the simplest form, we can understand that the charging infrastructure or charging stations are assets of power electronics that are usually wall or pedestal mounted with supplies regulated power from the grid to the vehicle batteries. Different vehicles have different types of chargers and different types of chargers supply different current and voltage levels as per required by the vehicles depending on their battery requirements. The power range of different electric vehicle chargers varies from 500 Watts to 500 Kilowatts. Right now, we have this range available but experts expect that improvement in the electric vehicles manufacturing infrastructure will enable even higher charging rates in the future.

Charging Stations at Temples

With the increase in the number of electric vehicles per day on Indian roads, the need and necessity for the availability of safe, affordable, and accessible charging infrastructure are significant. Governments and manufacturers are setting up charging stations at regular intervals to avoid any kind of inconvenience. With the growing number of charging stations and electric vehicles, the safety of electric vehicles, passengers, and the owner remains a major concern. We all have heard of many cases of Ola electric bikes catching fire while running on the road.
In order to make people safe and secure, the Ministry of Power issued electric vehicle charging safety guidelines. This will accelerate and make the stations safe in our country which will develop a reliable and safe charging ecosystem.

Hardware Infrastructure for Charging

A standard charging system for an electric vehicle includes different fundamental hardware components such as-

  • The power electronics assembly is the core of any charging station. It supplies the power to the electric vehicle’s onboard battery charger.
  • Next is the charge controller, which is the intelligence of the charging station and its main work is to manage the basic charging functions like turning a charger on and off, metering power usage, and also storing real-time data and event data in the form of key bits.
  • The network controller provides the interconnection of the charging station to the broader network and allows the station to communicate with its network using different onboard telecommunication devices where the system managers can monitor, review and control the usage of the device.
  • Charging gun which in simple terms means the cable and connector which plugs into the vehicle making a safe physical connection between the charger and the vehicle for the current to pass.
  • The most important part is the charging management software which is specially designed in such a way as to manage and administer charging stations and their networks. These high-end softwares allow drivers to locate and reserve available charging stations and can be configured to send notifications to operators and drivers. These softwares are so advanced that they also allow operators to remotely configure, manage and update software sets and control drivers’ access to charging, set pricing, and also manage billings and other activities.

Different types of Chargers

While setting up a charging station, we need to know what are the different types of chargers. There are basically two types of electric vehicle chargers which are fast chargers and slow chargers.

  • Fast Chargers– This type of charger is mainly installed along major roads throughout the country. It delivers high-power direct current which quickly recharges the battery of an electric vehicle. These types of charges are mostly used in vehicles that have high battery capacity. Talking about vehicles, two-wheelers, and three-wheelers do not have the provision for fast charging. So these are mostly used in electric cars and electric buses. The charging time usually depends upon the capacity of the battery that is installed in the vehicle.

  • Slow Chargers– Slow chargers are mostly used in two-wheelers and 3 wheelers. They require less power which makes them easy to install even in private houses, societies, and apartments. Again, the charging time varies according to the battery installed in the electric vehicle. They are cheaper as compared to fast chargers and are easy to handle and use.

Business Opportunity at Religious Places

The most important part of an electric vehicle is its charging facility without which it is suitable for nothing. This is one sector in which we are lagging behind a lot in the current scenario. There is a lack of proper charging facilities and infrastructure in our country. There is a requirement of approximately 30 lakh charging stations in our country. This would require a budget of 20,000 crore rupees.

This clearly shows that this is a huge business opportunity at various religious places. This particular business opportunity has a huge profit margin. It needs a lot of new players as we like behind a lot in this particular segment.

So, we can say that EV Charging Infrastructure for Temples in India. The number of people using electric vehicles is going up day by day. The number of people going to temples using electric vehicles is also increasing. So, we need to have the best charging facility and infrastructure for all these people. This will increase the sense of confidence in them regarding the usage of electric vehicles.

The most common anxiety among Indian people regarding electric vehicles is the availability of proper charging infrastructure at regular intervals. If major temples in our country will have the best charging success then, it will allow more and more people to use electric vehicles. Our government is also providing a lot of subsidies and incentive schemes to charging station providers in our country. This way we will be able to build a clean and green future for our generations to come.
